Jaya Bachchan raises Bhansali attack in Rajya Sabha

Samajwadi Party leader and actor Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday raised in Rajya Sabha the issue of recent attack on filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

She said: "Creativity should not be subjected to such treatment."

There was growing intolerance in the country with the selected few assuming that they represent the masses under certain political patronage, she said.

They have started taking law and order into their own hands, she added.

"They have no respect for the constitutional values or law and order. The film fraternity has long been fighting this menace with little or no support from the government," she said.

"Film industry creates large number of employment opportunity and any such disruption affects earnings, growth and employment generation within the industry, Jaya added.

The Samajwadi Party member also expressed her displeasure over the government not condemning the incident in which Bhansali was physically assaulted and film equipment was damaged.

I will advise my son Taimur to be humble: Kareena

Kareena says post-motherhood, there will be no change in the kind of films she does

Mumbai: Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's decision to name their son Taimur sparked a row on social media and the actress says her only advice to her kid would be to be humble and ignore everything else that happens around him.
The 36-year-old actress and Saif welcomed their first child together on December 20 last year. Many social media users targeted the celebrity couple for naming their son after a 14th century Mongol invader.
When asked if there is way to deal with the scrutiny, that celebrity kids face, which in her baby's case began right after the birth, Kareena told PTI, "I want to look at it like he is going to get the best of his parents.
I was born in a famous film family and so was Saif, yet we are very grounded.

"The advice I will give to my child is to have his head down, be humble, do what he wants to do and ignore everything else. It is tough in today's times with social media. But it is the environment that he will be brought up in and we are going to teach him exactly what we believe in."
Taimur is Kareena's first child, while Saif already has daughter Sara and Ibrahim with his former wife Amrita Singh. The 36-year-old actress says her husband Saif is a hands-on father and both she and the actor are growing as parents with every passing day.
"Saif is a hands-on father. He has experienced it before, he knows it a lot more. It is a personal experience for us. You grow each day, you learn something each day and that is the most beautiful thing. I am taking each day as it comes. It is the most beautiful phase of my life."
While most women shy away from cameras during pregnancy, Kareena was one star who posed for shutterbugs all throughout the nine months and impressed with her stylish maternity wardrobe. She even stepped out for a dinner date with her husband just a week after giving birth and recently walked the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week.
The actress says it was nothing unusual for her as she does not believe that pregnant women or new mothers should stay indoors. "Pregnancy is the most lovely thing. It is a natural phenomenon, it happens to every women. I don't know why would I have sat at home and not work. Pregnancy is not an illness and so isn't delivery. I am always out ands about. Work is part of my DNA, it will always be there."
Kareena says her work commitments keep her away from her little one but it feels it gives her son to spend some time with his father. "It is difficult to leave him at home but that's fine as he can spend some time with his father."
On the work front, the actress will resume the shooting of "Veere Di Wedding" in the next few months and has already started working on her fitness. The film which also stars Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
Kareena says post-motherhood, there will be no change in the kind of films she does and will always prefer to have a mixed bag of projects. "I did not think there has ever been a plan for me. I have always been very proud to be a glamorous commercial actress. I will always balance that out. I will always do a mixed bag of films. I will always look for a good script."

Bombay HC orders four cuts, fresh certification for 'Jolly LLB 2'

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Feb 6 (IANS)  The Bombay High Court's Aurangabad Bench on Monday ordered deletion of four scenes from the upcoming film 'Jolly LLB 2', which it held are defamatory to the judiciary and could amount to contempt of court, an official said here.

A Division Bench of Justice S.S. Shinde and Justice K.K. Sonawane also ordered the Central Board of Film Certification to certify the film afresh after implementing the cuts in the Akshay Kumar starrer.
The order follows a report by a court-appointed three-member committee of experts, comprising Senior Advocates R.N.
Dhorde and V.J. Dixit and medico Dr Prakash Kanade, petitioner-lawyer Ajaykumar Waghmare said from Nanded.

The committee viewed the film last Friday in Aurangabad and submitted its two-page report stating that a particular scene is "defamatory to the lawyers' profession and would be contempt of court".
They added that the visual or words also involved "defamation of the body of lawyers and undermines the dignity of lawyers and courts".
After taking the report on record, the judges ordered that the scenes objected to by the committee should be deleted and that the CBFC should re-certify the film, Waghmare said.
"This is a historic and significant order concerning any film in the country. It is also a lesson to the CBFC which certified the film during the pendency of the PIL, indicating some malpractices," Waghmare told IANS.
The scenes ordered to be deleted include the ones in which a judge is shown crouching behind the dias, hurling of a shoe at a judge and an objectionable dialogue.
The lawyers representing the filmmakers agreed to the necessary cuts/modifications.
The film's producers, Fox Star Studios, had challenged before the Supreme Court the January 27 ruling of the Bombay High Court to appoint the three-member.
The Supreme Court on Friday refused to put on hold the screening of 'Jolly LLB 2' before the three-member panel and allowed the committee to preview the film and ascertain whether the said scenes denigrated the judiciary in any manner.
Slated for release on February 10, 'Jolly LLB 2' is a courtroom drama starring Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla, and is written and directed by Subhash Kapoor.
